Hi Michelle,

You have quite a load on you, from treatment coordinator to marketing specialist. Marketing to dentist is very different than marketing to patients. I look for you doctor's website and only found her listed under Locateadoc.com and this site would not allow me to get her phone number. I can understand she would want to obtain the prospective patients information, however this actually will work against her. The website needs to have information and be very patient friendly. As far as general dentist the first thing if you havn't already done this is get a list of all general dentist within a certain mile radius of your office. The radius 5-10 miles will depend on how many other ortho office within your city. Reaching the actual dentist can be difficult, you will have the gatekeepers. I know because when I managed office the front desk always were told to say no to solicitors. There are many other avenues open such as healthfairs, schools and so on. I do have some articles and other information, if you would like this I can e-mail them to you.

Hello Michelle,

Keep smiling and stay positive, there are still some opportunities out there. I also transitioned from practice manager to consultant to Director of Marketing & Practice Development.

Since you are with an ortho practice have you contacts with many general dentist, if so I may have some good ideas for you. This would be for doing independent sales.

Hi Michelle, I juat returned from the NY Meeting and having spoken to many companies, now iis a bad time to be looking since many of the executines told me they have a hiring freeze. The best thing you can do right now is keep your present job and really try to make yourself caluable because companies are laying off all over the place.

Being a manufacturer rep (wholesale) is one way to start. It is probably more challenging to start a scratch territory as a dealer rep. Direct sale companies like implants are another avenue. All have their pros and cons.
