looks like we are starting to see some more M&A activity in dental. The big boys have been sitting on cash for a while and are now ready to start spending.Continue

Haven't posted in a while, but this topic keeps coming to mind and thought everyone could give me their 2 cents. I attend a ton of dental trade shows and have run into this situation now 4 times in the past 7 months.
I am calling them the vCard snobs. OK, well that may be a bit strong, but hold on... unless I am way off base here the way networking is supposed to go down is that you introduce yourself, shake…Continue
I wanted to reach out to Ronnie and Steve for the invite to their vendor appreciation event. These guys really know how to have a good time, but more importantly know how to treat their manufacturer partners. It was refreshing to see distribution reps put on an event for their manufacturer partners.
Tom Rimmer, from ESA, Steve O'Donnell from…Continue

So how was the Greater New York Meeting???? Depends on who you talked to, where your booth was and what day of the week it was. The answer is good for some and not good for others. I didn't hear "it was great" from anyone.
If you attended the meeting then you couldn't help, but notice the giant gray wall that divided the exhibition hall. If you were fortunate enough to be in aisles 100-3000 then you seemed to have the majority of the traffic. On the other side of the gray wall…Continue

Love this quote from a great distribution rep.... "The age of co-travel is Dead."
What do you think? I can tell you as an ex-manufacturer rep, co-travel has drastically fallen off. How do you get your distribution partners to sell your products????? Distribution reps are pulled in so many different directions. How do you and your products stand out among the 90,0000 other SKU's?
Been on the road for a couple of weeks now and just getting around to writing about the ADA meeting in Orlando. I visited with over 30 manufacturers at the ADA meeting. As predicted the meeting was extremely slow. It is hard to compare this ADA meeting to the last ADA meeting in Orlando. If anyone remembers, the previous ADA Orlando meeting followed a string of hurricanes that battered the state of Florida. Flying in to that meeting I remember seeing the thousands of blue tarps covering the…Continue

From what we are hearing attendance numbers are nothing to get excited about for the upcoming ADA session in Orlando. That being said there is still business to be had and still reason to be optimistic. You may have to work a little bit harder and smarter, but good sales people thrive on a challenge.
We will be down in Orlando for the entire meeting and are looking forward to seeing all you DSP and First Impressions fans there. Make…Continue

Headed down to DC for the HSC national sales meeting. This will be my fifth time attending the HSC national sales meeting. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones.
Not looking forward to driving in DC, but love the Gaylord properties. Only drawback is you typically need a map to find your way back to your room.
As far as extra curricular activities go.....the Nationals are not in…Continue

Did we get anyone? No, Danaher did not acquire DSP, but figured someone may buy that story.
However we do accept donations, handouts and Chocolate Easter bunnies.
Enjoy the Spring Holidays!

Had the opportunity to speak to several manufacturers and distributors regarding Hinman. The same trend that we have seen this year with meetings has carried through to the Hinman down in Hotllanta. The meeting started off a bit slow, but several companies stated it was their best Hinman ever. 2 manufacturers and 1 dealer stated they were pleasantly suprised by not all the foot traffic, but more importantly the SALES!
If you were there let us know how it was for…Continue
Have heard conflicting reports about traffic and sales for the last day of the Mid-Winter Meeting. Anywhere from "very slow" to "packed and a banner day for sales". My guess is that this had a lot to do with preselling the show and whether the company had any new and different products to demo at the meeting.
How did your company do?
By all accounts Friday made up for the slow start on Thursday. Spoke to several DSP members and they were all very happy with traffic and sales for Friday.
Meeting was in McCormick West this year and was well laid out. Love the fact that the booth numbers were on the floor in front of each booth.
The DSP/ Proofs Mid-Winter Meet Up was a blast. Great to see Mark…Continue
